Our Founder 

William W.D. Allen

William "W.D" Allen

W.D is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Trulaske College of Business, as well as serving as the Coordinator of AACE. He received his PhD from MU in 2006. In former lives, he was a fixed income manager, real estate developer, small business owner, purchasing manager, fry cook, aspring musician, and a heavy equipment operator. As the coordinator of AACE, he oversees a multidisciplinary class of 15 to 20 students. He guides them through all of angel investing from prescreening to investment.

Kate Holland

Kate is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Missouri. Her research interests are in the area of corporate finance and focus primarily on ownership, government involvement with firms and energy. AACE provides an excellent perspective for her research on university innovation. She was a power trader prior to earning her Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. She has also worked at Purdue University.

 

Gary McKinney

Gary McKinney

Gary is an experienced Founder and CEO with a demonstrated history of working in the venture capital and private equity industry. He is skilled in Business Planning, Management, Corporate Development, Mergers & Acquisitions and Start-ups. Additionally, Gary is a commercial Real Estate developer and Angel investor. He graduated from the University of Missouri and is currently an Adjunct Professor and advisor of the AACE Fund.

Managing Directors

 

Jess Fisher

Jess Fisher is a senior from St. Charles, Missouri pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, graduating in May 2022. Jess joined AACE Venture Fund in the Fall of 2021 and serves as a Managing Director for her second semester, heading up legal matters, portfolio monitoring, and syndication with other university venture funds. Jess has previously completed internships with Gatewood Wealth Solutions, Boeing, and Citi Private Bank. Upon graduation, Jess will join William Blair as an Investment Banking Analyst in their Chicago office. Outside of AACE, Jess is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, the University of Missouri Investment Group, the Rocking Against Multiple Sclerosis Steering Committee, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

 

Dylan Kay

Dylan Kay is a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance and a minor in economics and accounting. He previously completed internships with Scale as a venture analyst. This summer, he will be a private equity summer analyst with Great Range Capital in Kansas City, and is pursuing a career in investment banking. Outside of AACE, he is the External Vice President of the University of Missouri Investment Group, VP of Finance for the Interfraternity Council, and a member of Beta Theta Pi. This is his second semester with the fund. 

 

Carson Lujin

Carson Lujin is a graduate student from Kansas City dual majoring in Accounting and Economics. He is currently a Managing Director and is in his fifth semester with the Fund. He has previously completed internships in investment banking at Deloitte Corporate Finance, deal advisory & strategy at KPMG, strategic investment at TortoiseEcofin, and financial planning at Prism Financial Group. Following graduation in May, Carson will join the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in Chicago. At Mizzou, he has previously served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Missouri Investment Group, an Ernst & Young Mentor, and is a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

 

Yuriy Snyder

Yuriy Snyder is currently a bioengineering Ph.D. student at the University of Missouri-Columbia researching and developing cardiovascular medical devices through tissue engineering. Yuriy was born in Ukraine but lived most of his life in Big Island, Virginia. During his undergraduate career, he obtained bachelor’s degrees in physics and chemistry and developed computational models and mechanisms for producing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly industrial compounds. While at Randolph College, he was also a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, Judiciary Committee, IT advisory board, and was the director of the Winfree Observatory. While in graduate school, he has served as a Managing Director for the AACE Venture Fund for two semesters and as the primary biomedical consultant for all the Fund’s potential healthcare-related investments. Also, He has interned at Abbott Laboratories and Preferred Imaging. 

Analysts

 

Luke Davis

Luke Davis is a sophomore Finance student pursuing a career in Investment Banking. Previously he has completed an internship at Moneta, and this summer he will be working at RubinBrown on their business advisory services team. Outside of AACE, Luke is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, and is also an associate for the University of Missouri Investment Group. This is Luke's first semester with the AACE fund. 

 

Theo Dehopere

Theo Dehopere is a Junior pursuing dual Bachelor's degrees in Finance and Banking, and Economics. Theo is currently completing his internship at Shelter Insurance Companies where he is an Equity Investments Analyst in the Investments department. He is looking to go into Investment Banking, Equity Research (buy side), or Private Equity after graduation. Theo is also the CFO and Portfolio Manager of the University of Missouri Investment Group where he has been an Associate member for 1,5 years. He joined AACE in May of 2021 and this is his 2nd semester with the fund.

 

Jameson Fitzgerald

Jameson Fitzgerald is a junior pursuing a degree in finance and banking with a minor in economics. Previously, he completed an internship with TD Ameritrade/Charles Schwab as an Investor Services Intern. During this internship, he earned FINRA’s Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) license. This summer, he will be interning with Wells Fargo as a Middle Market Banking Summer Analyst. His goal is to land an investment banking position the following summer. Outside of AACE, Jameson is a member of Beta Theta Pi and the University of Missouri Investment Group. This is Jameson’s first semester with the fund.

 

Spencer Foster

Spencer Foster is a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance and banking. Previously, he has completed internships with Youth Volunteer Corps as a program & relationship development intern, AJW Consulting as a Market Familiarization Consultant, and Lockton Companies as a Corporate Operations Intern and ESG Strategy Analyst. This summer, he will be joining Confluent, a newly public SaaS company, as a Sales Development Representative. After graduating in the spring of 2023, Spencer’s career goal is to work for an early-stage Growth Equity Fund investing in disruptive FinTech startups. Outside of AACE, Spencer is a member of the Alumni Association Student Board and a lead tutor at the MU Writing Center. This will be Spencer’s first semester as an analyst with the AACE fund. 

 

Jack Gillig

Jack Gillig is a senior from Kansas City pursuing dual bachelor's and master's degrees in accountancy, CPA eligible May of 2023. Previously, he has completed internships at KPMG as a Winter Audit Intern, Hallmark Cards as a Corporate Accounting Intern, and American Century Investments as a Sales and Distribution Intern. Outside of AACE, Jack is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. This is Jack's third semester with the AACE fund.

 

Tyler Hagan

Tyler Hagan is currently a junior from St. Louis graduating in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis Finance and Banking as well as a minor in Economics. This is my second semester in the fund, and I currently serve as an investment analyst. Additionally, I work on the specialized deal flow team, and am also on the rolodex team. This coming Summer, I will be joining J.P. Morgan in Chicago as a Summer Analyst in their Middle Market and Specialized Industries Group. Outside of AACE, I am a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, and have served as Chapter President of Beta Theta Pi. 

 

Keejuan Harris

Keejuan Harris is a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance and banking. Previously, he has completed internships in the financial services and banking industries. This summer, he will be interning with Goldman Sachs in New York as an investment banking summer analyst in their consumer & retail group. Outside of AACE, Keejuan is the Chief Operating Officer of the University of Missouri Investment Group and Treasurer of Mizzou’s Black Collegiate Network. This is Keejuan’s first semester with the AACE fund. 

 

Cade Koehly

Cade Koehly is a junior pursuing dual bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy. Outside of AACE, Cade is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program and is highly active in a number of other organization on campus, both inside and outside of the college of business. Cade is still exploring career paths, but is highly interesting in various areas of consulting. This summer, Cade plans to go on a mission trip to South America. 

 

Dani Laue

Danielle Laue is a sophomore pursuing a strategic communication major and a textile and apparel management minor. Previously, she has completed internships with The Custom companies as a clientele service specialist, and Skoog Co as a public relations intern. This summer, she will be interning for Rock and Rags as a public relations intern, specializing in social media and influencer partnerships. Outside of AACE, Danielle is a member of Mizzou's Public Relations club and Gamma Phi Beta sorority where she serves as recruitment chair. This is Danielle's first semester with the AACE fund. 

 

Connor Lynch

Connor Lynch is in his third year of law school at Mizzou Law where he will obtain his J.D. and tax certificate. Upon graduation and passing the Missouri Bar Exam, Connor has accepted a full-time position with Fontg Hansen, LLC as corporate and transactional associate attorney. This is Connor's third semester with the AACE fund, where he has specialized in legal analysis and due diligence.

 

Bobby Nickel

Bobby Nickel is a third-year law student graduating in Spring of 2022. Mr. Nickel received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Previously, Mr. Nickel has interned with the law firm Evans & Dixon, LLC, and he has participated in Mizzou Law’s Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic. He is interested in practicing transactional law and is also a member of Mizzou Law’s Tax and Transactional Law Society. This is his third semester with AACE. 

 

Anna OByrne

Anna O’Byrne is senior pursing a bachelor’s of science degree in Applied Economics. Previously, she worked for Lockton Global as a financial risk analyst intern. Anna has been in the fund for two semesters where she currently leads the Software & Technology deal flow team and the Social Media team for AACE. Outside of AACE, Anna is a member of a Kansas City investment club, Mizzou’s Women in Economics group, and has also participated in the National Phi Beta Lamba competition, where she placed 3rd in state for Business Presentation, 1st in state for Economics Knowledge, and 4th in the nation for Financial Analysis & Risk Decision Making. Anna’s career goal is to work for a technology-focused Private Equity firm in the Midwest.

 

Myles Opdahl

Myles Opdahl is a junior majoring in finance at the University of Missouri with an expected graduation of December 2022. Myles has held multiple internship positions including being a Private Equity Summer Analyst this past summer with Great Range Capital in Kansas City and a Financial Analyst with ABMI Mergers & Acquisitions in Kansas City. This upcoming summer, Myles will be an Investment Banking Summer Analyst with Deloitte Corporate Finance in Chicago. At Mizzou, Myles is the Vice President of the University of Missouri Investment Group (UMIG), and is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Myles has been with the AACE fund since the Fall of 2021.

 

Roland Oruche

Roland Oruche received his BS in Information Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU). He is currently a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a current analyst at the MU AACE Venture Fund. His research interests include Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Human-Computer Interaction. He is also a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship where his research focus is on the modeling of intelligent agents in human-centered applications. As a research assistant, he has successfully led teams of graduate, undergraduate and visiting scholars in Federal, State, and University projects. His research has had cooperation with various universities and organizations including: Texas Tech University, MU College of Education, and EnCircle Technologies.

 

Abhilash Parath

Abhilash Parath is a senior pursuing dual bachelor's and master's degrees in accountancy and a minor in economics. Previously, he completed internships as a capital markets analyst at Veterans United Home Loans and investments analyst at Shelter Insurance. Outside of AACE, Abhilash is a Finance Director at Mizzouthon and a member of the University of Missouri Investment Group. This is Abhilash's second semester with the AACE fund. 

 

Isaac Plumlee

Isaac Plumlee is a sophomore pursuing a dual bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics with an expected graduation date of May 2024. Previously, he has completed an internship at ProPartners Wealth working through their transaction and investment divisions and will be working this summer in Saint Louis as an investment banking summer analyst at R.L. Hulett & Co. Additionally, Isaac is a Portfolio Manager within the University of Missouri Investment Group and the VP of Finance for Collegiate Entrepreneur's Organization. This is Isaac's first semester with the fund. 

 

Lorien Stevens

Lorien Stevens is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Banking. Previously, she has completed internships with EventShares as a Sales & Portfolio Management Analyst, BentallGreenOak as an Acquisitions Summer Analyst, and Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst in the Cross Markets Group. This summer, she will be returning to Goldman Sachs as a full-time Investment Banking Analyst in the Cross Markets Group after graduating. Outside of AACE, Lorien is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, a member of the University of Missouri Investment Group, and a Program Manager for Access Distributed. This is Lorien's second semester with the AACE fund. 

 

Dylan Stovall

Dylan Stovall is an undergraduate student in the Trulaske College of Business and will graduate in May of 2024. Previously, Dylan has interned for Permanent Equity and Real Equity Management. This summer, he will be joining PSRS/PEERS Investments Team in Jefferson City. On campus, he is actively involved in the Trulaske College of Business as an associate member of The University of Missouri Investment Group and president of the Mizzou Real Estate Club. This is Dylan's first semester with the AACE fund.

 

Wil Strubberg

Wil Strubberg is a senior pursuing a Bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Banking. Previously, he previously completed an internship with Renaissance Financial in St. Louis where he has accepted a full-time position as a Financial Advisor starting Summer of 2022. He holds his Series 7 license and is currently pursuing his Series 66 and insurance license. This is Wil's second semester with the AACE.

 

Clayton Thompson

Clayton Thompson is a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance with a minor in economics. Clayton has completed an internship at Schmidt CPAs and Advisors, and plans to pursue a career in investment banking in the future. Outside of AACE, Clayton is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, Beta Theta Pi, and the University of Missouri Investment Group. This is Clayton's first semester with the AACE fund.

 

Keeley Van Antwerp

Keeley Van Antwerp is a junior at the University of Missouri pursuing a master’s degree in accountancy with an expected graduation date in December 2023. This upcoming summer, she will be a financial analyst intern at Tradebot, a high-frequency trading firm in Kansas City, and plans to pursue a career in investment banking. Outside of AACE, Keeley is a member of the Cornell Leadership Program, the University of Missouri Investment Group, and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. This is Keeley’s first semester with the AACE fund.

 

Will VanAlstine

Will VanAlstine is a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance and a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation management. Previously, he has completed financial internships, most recently with Stifel Nicolaus. This is Will’s second semester with the AACE fund. In his role with AACE, he has experience in deal flow and due diligence with startups in the St. Louis, Kansas City, and Cincinnati regions. Will aspires to work in venture capital and private equity upon graduation.
